Next launch: GSLV-F18 / NVS-03, 11:51 PM IST, Friday 30 October 2026.
Registration is open (it opened on 26 October 2026 at 6:00 PM IST). Register on the booking portal of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC SHAR): lvg.shar.gov.in, then click "Click here for registering to witness the launch". The form asks for your email ID first. It is free.

You can watch an Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launch in person from the Launch View Gallery at Sriharikota. It is free. You register online for each launch on the official SDSC SHAR portal, linked above. Book only there.

What is the Launch View Gallery?

It is a stadium-style viewing gallery at Sriharikota with room for 5,000 people. It has a clear line of sight to the two launch pads, so you see the launch with your own eyes. Large screens explain the rocket and satellite, and show the activity before and after launch. That is from ISRO's gallery page, which says the gallery was to be opened on 31 March 2019.

It is part of a planned Space Theme Park. The park will also have a Rocket Garden and a Space Museum. For now, SDSC SHAR says, only the gallery is open to the public.

How does registration work?

You register on the SDSC SHAR portal for a specific launch. The portal shows the next launch and the date and time registration opens. It says SDSC SHAR does not charge visitors anything to watch a launch from the gallery.

For GSLV-F18, the portal lists the launch for 11:51 PM on Friday 30 October 2026. Registration opened on 26 October 2026 at 18:00, and the portal's registration button is now live.

Our advice, which is our own judgement: check the portal often in the days before a launch, and register as soon as it opens. The gallery holds a fixed number of people.

What do I need to register?

The portal asks you to keep these ready:

  • An Aadhaar card, driving licence or any other government-issued ID.
  • A mobile number.
  • An email address.

Booking for a school, college or other institute? You need a letter from the head of the institute, on its letterhead, signed and sealed.

How do I get to Sriharikota?

SDSC SHAR says the centre is a 20-minute drive east of Sullurupeta, on National Highway 5. Sriharikota is about 80 km from Chennai, according to ISRO's launch services page.

What will I see?

The rocket on one of the two launch pads, then the launch itself. Read more about the pads in our Sriharikota launch site guide.

Launches can be delayed, sometimes on the day. Check the latest time on our GSLV-F18 launch time page, ISRO's next launch or Is there a launch from Sriharikota today?
